Volcan Arenal
By the time we returned from Tenorio, it was dark. We decided to
see Volcan Arenal, an active volcano near Fortuna.
When we first arrived, there was a glowing red corona around
the peak, but it soon faded.
In the darkness, we could see red lava cascading down the sides of the
mountain. The hissing and moaning sounds of the lava were as spectacular as the
sight.
Unfortunately, it was too dark to photograph without a tripod. Our guide
told us that the volcano is barely visible during the day --- only a white
smoke can be seen.
